But he didn’t know what to do now that his injury prevented him from dunking the ball. And I tweeted to him, don’t worry, just lay the ball up quickly because there is more time there than you realize. He tried it the next game, and some guy blocked the shit out of his shot. I bit my tongue and instantly knew he had read my tweet.

Growing up, I loved basketball. Later on when I found out it wasn’t as popular as soccer, gridiron, or baseball, I realized I loved it even more. I was certain my passion for basketball was as real as anyone else’s passion was for one of the other more popular sports.
