- The St. Louis Hawks defeated the Boston Celtics in the 1958 NBA Finals, 4–2, capturing their first and only NBA title.
- Boston was without star Bill Russell for part of the Finals due to injury.
- Bob Pettit scored 50 points in Game 6 to seal the championship for the Hawks.
- This was the final season George Mikan coached the Lakers after retiring as a player a few years earlier.
