No. Based on my research, Steph Curry is 6’0 when not in shoes. The way I worked this out was by listening to Kevin Durant say that he is 6’9 when some journalists quizzed him on whether he was 6’11 or 6’9. Durant is adamant that he is 6’9 and called out some of his Team USA teammates for lying about their height.
Who are the most common players to lie about their height? Often the frontcourt players want to make themselves sound taller than they are because their size is supposed to be their biggest attribute. Using Team USA’s team photo in 2024, we could see that Anthony Davis is 6’7, Bam Adebayo is 6’5, Anthony Edwards is 6’3, and Steph Curry is 6’1.
If you analyze it logically, it makes sense for the players to be shorter than they claim. We know that only 1% of the American population is 6’3. So if there were so many NBA players above 6’3, who would their competition even be as they fight to become great professional basketball players? It’s extremely rare to be above 6’5 and even more rare to be 6’7. Once you get to those heights, provided you are athletic, with enough work you have a decent chance of being a professional basketball player because there are not many people competing against you.
