Dererk Pardon spent the 2022-23 season playing for the New Zealand Breakers for the 2022-23 season. Pardon was the Breakers’ defensive player of the year during that season. Before his professional career, Pardon was perhaps best known for hitting a game-winning shot for Northwestern in USA college hoops.

Notes:

  • I watched Pardon play for Northwestern when he was in college. Pardon has very good post moves and plays well with his back to the basket. He lacks the physical size for a traditional power forward or center in the NBA. He also graduated into an era when it was rare to play with your back to the basket. Pardon was an excellent finisher around the key.
